The Bio-Synth Sanctuary is a musical remembrance of Earth's past. It is a manifesto of the lack of ethics in the foundations of our civilization, a reflection on the lack of balance between exploitation and care, the lack of respect for nature, other species, and for ourselves. Although Earth civilization is an example here, the concept is universal.

Technological development of civilization, generative technologies, progression on the Kardashev scale, space travel, and the discovery of the secrets of the universe take place without respect for the surrounding world. Reaching a certain threshold of technological development may be impossible because it consumes too many resources. As a result, instead of giving, we take, and development paradoxically becomes a threat to the existence of civilization. Doesn't true, conscious progress require us to put ethics and universal respect first?

The sanctuary takes us to individual locations, visually presented as a post-apocalyptic vision of elements of Warsaw. Among others, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the auditorium of the Warsaw University of Technology appear. The graphics are a hybrid of my own architectural photos and generative textures.

The musical character and style is already strongly defined in previous Chântall releases, but due to the much greater emotional weight of this project, it is further emphasized by the cycle name The Bio-Synth Sanctuary. 'Synth' means rawness, IDM inspirations, analog synthesizers, synthetic forms, courage and bravery. 'Bio' means acoustic, organic forms, drums, vocals, ambient. 'Sanctuary' is the spiritual, tribal, even shamanic sphere. It is also a musical journey in time, inspirations: Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Mike Oldfield, Steven Wilson. The whole is an attempt to musically capture the feelings of ambivalence generated by the concept, especially strongly felt by a conscious sci-fi fan, which I am.
